This week we wrap up our awesome summer music program, the highlight of which was no doubt watching 18 fantastic performances by our talented students on the main stage at the Arnprior Fair.
Then, we found out two of our 13 year old vocalists also made the top 25 in a well-known singing competition. One of the students, Shiane Rawlings, 13, was the recipient of our first ever Music ROX Fund, which provided two local teens with free singing lessons all summer. Our second Music ROX fund singer performed a duet at the fair – her first show, and it was a big one. U-Rock’s Karolina Moo, also 13, wowed the judges with her bilingual performance at her audition, making it into the next round of competition. We can hardly wait to cheer them both on.
Finally, U-Rock’s 12 year old Abby Moffitt not only recorded her own first (soon to be) hit single, “Unstoppable” but has also co-written a second song, “Sink or Swim” and is on her way to the CNE in Toronto tomorrow to compete in the exhibition’s prestigious singing contest, after being selected from hundreds of entries based on the strength of her video audition. Abby is also a member of U-Rock’s tween/teen band, The Crushers, which also performed live this summer on Canada Day and at last Sunday’s Arnprior Fair.
We are so excited for all of our ambitious young rock stars. Stay tuned for lots more news in the weeks ahead.
