Our proprietary online material will transform students from classroom learners to stage-ready rockstars by emphasizing high-energy performance over traditional learning.

Standard instruction focuses only on technical skills. Our method differs by adding measurable SHINE Performance Metrics:

•  The 70% “Eyes Up” Metric: Performers don’t stare at their fingers. Our students’ goal is to look away from the instrument for at least 70% of the performance to make eye contact with their fans and stay present in the performance vibe.
• Continuous Play (The Resilience Rule): On stage, the rhythm is king. If students flub a note, they must keep keep going in time. The rule is to never stop the energy for a mistake; the audience will forgive a wrong note, but they will notice if the heartbeat of the song stops.

At the end of each module, teachers will record a performance video during class time that encapsulates what the student has learned. The teacher will evaluate the video and they will review it together. We’ll be looking for technical mastery AND for students who SHINE, confidently performing the song from beginning to end while engaging the imaginary audience.

A message for piano students

Piano is a bit of a special case. We aren’t replacing the method books we currently use. They are best for building foundational skills. Our piano course, Mastering the Art of Piano Accompaniment, is an intermediate course. It will supplement the books and will begin after students have completed beginner material. 

Pianists will learn to play popular music in a band or as an accompaniment to a singer in this course. Piano players should be able to experience the joy of playing music with their friends, just as guitarists, drummers and singers routinely do, but few piano student are taught those skills. We will be filling this gap with our new program.
